Cityscape group drawing

The other really great drawing project we did to start off the term was a group drawing project.

Here, the children had to draw with ONE CONTINUOUS LINE - or in other words, not let the pencil leave the paper for a specific time period!

Here were the results, the two photos are actually each half of the same drawing, approx 1m in length by 40cm wide -

Welcome back!

Its been a while since I last posted, mainly because I've been focusing on getting the Facebook page up and running - please come by, 'like' and interact! As a bit of a change for this year, I'll only be posting my favourite images from the classes here - so you can look forward to that!

So! We got off to a flying start with a couple of Drawing projects. The first one was where the children drew each other in different poses! I particularly LOVE this drawing made by a 6 year old, isnt it just wonderful!

I also managed to capture this moment when one of the children was pretending to be a singer - just brilliant dont you think?!

Life Size Self Portraits

Happy New Year!

To start the Spring term off I thought, what better than to do some life size self portrait drawings!

So the children got into pairs, I measured everyone out onto some huge sheets of paper and they got busy drawing around each other.

Then they got down to draw different elements of themselves. I gave them around 10 minutes on each body part.

First it was the faces....

Then the hands and toes....

Then the arms....

 And the legs...

...and finally the whole body!

Superb work everyone, well done!

Christmas Pop Up Cards

The Kids made some great Pop up Cards last week at Art Club!

This was the example I showed them, of a Sleigh, Tree and Presents:

The children got busy, choosing different coloured card and images for their designs.

Here are just a few of the finished ones! So great to see such a range of unique styles.

Geometric Tile Designs

This week the children got into groups and made some beautiful tile designs.

They looked at some images for inspiration and chose a theme for their design.
 

The children got down to it, making sure each member of the group was making a few tiles each to contribute to the final design.

They also had to make sure that each tile in their design somehow linked to the one it was placed next to.

Here are a few of the final results! I think you'll agree that they are brilliant!

What I love about Art Club - Group collage

For the last four weeks of term, the children made a fantastic group collage called
"What I love about Art Club". The project was so impressive because I have never known a group of 6-11 year olds to do anything as complicated as 'scaling up' - its something they usually learn in GCSE and A-Level. But for anyone who knows me, they know I like to push the boundries of whats possible! ;0)

Here's how they did it!

First of all they designed their own posters - here are just a few of them:

Then I chose parts of everyone's drawings and made it into a collective design. The theme became "Art Club is out of this World" and featured planet Earth with some of the childrens favourite projects on the land masses:

Then we divided the traced design into 15 sections, one for each child in the group.

Then as each child 'scaled up' their tiny 1/15th of an A3 onto one whole A3, they began to fit the artwork together as a whole. I was really impressed with the way they joined up each others drawings and were excited to make it look the best they could!

Next stage was to mark out which colours went where and then they were ready to collage!

And here's the final result = amazing! Well done everyone!
